Can the Town do something about Broken Windows in my apartment?

The Town requires all property owners/landlords to abide by the the Town's Property Maintenance Code, including windows. If the property owner is not responsive to your communications regarding window issues the Town can review and require the property owner to fix in accordance with the code.

The Town Property Maintenance Code Section 304 requires that every window, skylight, door and frame shall be kept in sound condition, good repair, and weather tight. Glazing materials shall be maintained free from cracks and holes. Every window, other than a fixed window, shall be easily openable and capable of being held in position by window hardware. Windows containing screening shall have a self-closing device in good working condition. Screen doors shall not be required where other approved means for excluding insect intrusion are installed and functioning, such as approved air curtains or insect repellant fans. Insect screens. Every door, window and other outside opening required for ventilation shall be supplied with approved tightly fitting screens of minimum 16 mesh per inch (16 mesh per 25 mm), and every screen door used for insect control shall have a self-closing device in good working condition.
